Welcome to my homesteading adventure.  Here I write about my successes and sometimes epic failures of growing and harvesting food, keeping chickens and a dog on about a fifth of an acre in a small city bordering Washington, DC.  This is where my outsize aspirations of complete self sufficiency slam into the realities of living in a city built on a swamp with mature shade trees in every direction.
